H.E. Prof. Dr. NGO Buthan, Rector,
Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia
Dear colleagues, students, and members of the Royal University of Agriculture community,
As the Director of the Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), I am honored to lead our institution’s efforts in advancing Cambodia's agricultural landscape through scientific excellence and sustainable innovation. Since our official inauguration on February 24, 1998, the DRI has grown from a specialized research and dissemination unit into a comprehensive division dedicated to fostering global competitiveness and creativity. Our vision is to drive a prosperous agricultural sector by promoting innovative technologies and practices that prioritize environmental preservation. To achieve this, we focus on a mission to empower Cambodian farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary for both profitability and sustainability, while simultaneously integrating research findings directly into the agricultural supply chain. The DRI operates through a robust organizational structure comprising four specialized offices—including the Office of Technology Transfer and the Office of Research and Data Support—alongside the Cambodia Packaging Center, which was officially inaugurated on June 6, 2024, through the CAPFish CAPTURE project. Our state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s Advanced Research and Innovation Laboratory and recent additions for pesticide residue and heavy metal analysis, provide critical infrastructure for high-level scientific inquiry. Furthermore, we remain committed to academic excellence by collaborating with the Cambodia Association of Agriculture to publish the Cambodian Journal of Agriculture, ensuring that our research is disseminated widely. By enhancing the capacity of our faculty and providing students with practical, field-based research opportunities, we strive to meet international educational standards and build a resilient, technology-driven future for Cambodian agriculture.
Warm Regards,
