
1998 – 2003: Establishment Phase
The Division of Research and Innovation was officially inaugurated on February 24, 1998. Located within the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), it was originally named the "Research and Extension Division." At its inception, the center housed one library and five initial laboratories, though they were not yet equipped with technical instruments. These laboratories included:
2003 – Present: Development and Expansion
In 2003, the division received a grant from the Kusanone organization, providing equipment for two major facilities: the Seed Quality Testing Laboratory and the Soil Laboratory. These were inaugurated on November 20, 2003, presided over by H.E. Chan Sarun.
On September 20, 2004, Sub-decree No. 60 អនក្រ.បក (signed by Samdech Hun Sen) was issued to supplement Article 12 of Sub-decree No. 1/5 អនក្រ.បក (dated December 27, 1999). This decree officially integrated the research center into the "Research and Extension Division," granting the Director of the division a rank equivalent to a Department Director.
To date, the division has been officially renamed the Division of Research and Innovation (DRI). Currently, the center manages four offices and one specialized center:
