Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program officially launched in February 2017 as a two-year continuation of the Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine. This program equips students for careers in animal healthcare through comprehensive coursework, clinical training, and research. It covers key areas such as veterinary science, diagnostics, surgery, and animal care, preparing graduates to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases across various species. Additionally, all students in the DVM are required to complete and obtain passes in a further 51 credits of courses, after they have successfully completed the BSc-VetMed, for a total of 216 credits. The DVM degree will become the requirement for registration as a veterinarian, who would upon registration have all the professional responsibilities and privileges, inherent in that position. This is considered a critical component of addressing SPS issues in animal health nationally.
