Phnom Penh University of Agriculture (RUA) is one of the leading administrative institutions in Cambodia that plays an important role in educational programs related to agriculture and related sectors for all levels.
Between 1965 and 1975, about 200 students graduated from this university.
In 1975, it was closed during the Khmer Rouge regime.
1984 reopened and named the Institute of Agricultural Education (IAE) with only short courses (2 to 6 months) in the field of agriculture.
In 1990, the Russian sponsorship was terminated, and later the lectures were given by Cambodian professors in Khmer.
In 1994, the institute developed into a university, named Village University of Agriculture (RUA).
In 1999, RUA became a public administrative institution in Cambodia.
2000 RUA was the first higher education institution to implement the credit system for undergraduate programs.
2002 Started offering master's programs in agriculture and related fields.
2006 Established the Higher Education Programme, namely Doctoral Programs in Agriculture and Related Fields, began to be offered.
2012 was temporarily recognized by ACC for the whole university
