In 2025, the faculty employs 11 government staff and 19 contractual staff with variouse skills and expertise to support the veterinary programs. The faculty also invited several senior lecturers and experts from other institutions for teaching and conducting research in veterinary field.
Prof. Dr. Kang Kroesna has been the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal University of Agriculture since 2014. She earned her Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition in 1999 from the Czech University of Life Sciences. A leading expert in animal nutrition and production, her research focuses on pig health, antibiotic use, and sustainable farming practices in Cambodia. She has played a key role in advancing veterinary education, leading the World Bank-funded "Enhancing Veterinary Medicine Education" project (2019–2023). Dr. Chea Bunthon is currently a vice-dean of the faculty. He is a distinguished veterinary scientist and educator. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and multiple degrees in Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine from the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA). Since 1997, Mr. Bunthon has been a lecturer and researcher in veterinary pharmacology at RUA. His research focuses on parasitology, antimicrobial resistance, and animal breeding. He has collaborated internationally and contributed to key studies on probiotics in broiler diets and gastrointestinal infections in Cambodian cattle. Mr. Bunthon has also played a pivotal role in curriculum development, technical consulting, and mentoring future veterinarians. Dr. Kouch Theng is a distinguished academic, researcher, and lecturer specializing in biostatistics, epidemiology, and animal sciences. He currently serves as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia. With over 25 years of experience in academia and research, he has been instrumental in mentoring students, guiding research, and contributing to curriculum reform and community development. Dr. Theng holds a PhD in Animal Sciences from RUA, focusing on cattle production and beef market improvement in Cambodia. He earned his MSc in Tropical Livestock Systems from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and a Bachelor’s in Animal Production and Health from RUA. His research spans epidemiology, livestock development, and sustainable agriculture, with extensive publications in scientific journals and authorship of Khmer-language textbooks on biostatistics, ruminant medicine, epidemiology, and veterinary toxicology. Actively engaged in international collaborations, he has participated in academic exchange programs and training across Asia, Europe, and America, and coordinated multiple Erasmus+ programs on livestock management, disease prevention, and curriculum development. Dr. Keo Sath, vice dean, is an expert in animal science, specializing in nutrition and management with a focus on ruminant animals. He holds a PhD in Animal Science, Nutrition, and Management, with research centered on nutrient utilization in Cambodian cattle using diverse feed sources and conservation techniques. With extensive experience in sustainable livestock production, Dr. Sath has made significant contributions to optimizing livestock diets, reducing feed costs, and improving animal health and productivity. His research focuses on utilizing locally available feed resources to develop cost-effective and sustainable feeding solutions for farmers. Currently, Dr. Sath serves as a researcher and instructor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia. Dr. ITH Manay is a distinguished Cambodian veterinary scientist and educator with decades of experience in veterinary medicine and animal science. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Nong Lam University, Vietnam, in 1994, followed by a Master’s degree in Animal Production and Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Academy of Cambodia and the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia. In 2014, he obtained his Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Academy of Cambodia. With a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, Dr. Manay has served as a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Royal University of Agriculture. His contributions to academia include numerous research publications on animal health and production, featured in both national and international scientific journals. Dr. Thim Sokha is a Ph.D. candidate in Agricultural Science at the Graduate School, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia. He holds a Master of Science in Tropical Livestock Systems from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, where his dissertation focused on the effects of different protein levels derived from mixtures of water spinach and fresh sweet potato vines in basal diets of broken rice or cassava root meal and rice bran for growing pigs. Additionally, Mr. Thim Sokha earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from RUA and a Bachelor of Animal Production and Veterinary Medicine from the same institution. Currently, he serves as a lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Royal University of Agriculture, specializing in Veterinary Histology, Veterinary Embryology, and Veterinary Poultry Medicine. Dr. Chea Bunna is a PhD candidate in Agricultural Science at the Graduate School, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia. He specializes in food safety, agrofood, and public health, with a focus on antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and zoonotic diseases. He currently serves as a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, RUA, and is also actively involved in the Cambodia One Health University Network (CAMBOHUN) as a liaison. Dr. Bunna holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from RUA and a Master’s in Agrofood Chain in Food Safety, Agrofood, and Public Health from the University of Toulouse III, France. He has significant experience in veterinary research and teaching, particularly in the fields of antimicrobial use and resistance, animal health, and community development. Dr. Bunna has authored several publications and has been involved in multiple international and national research projects, particularly focused on improving livestock health, food safety, and addressing the challenges of antimicrobial resistance in Cambodia. Mr. Kong Sokom is a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Cambodia, and a PhD candidate in Science and Innovation for Animal Health at Kasetsart University, Thailand. With expertise in veterinary public health, epidemiology, zoonotic diseases, and One Health, he has led and mentored multiple national and international research projects, collaborating with ACIAR, MOE Cambodia, SEAOHUN, WOAH, FAO, and other organizations. As an expert and consultant, he has contributed to pandemic preparedness, disease surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, and food safety policies. His key achievements include initiating and developing the Veterinary Molecular Biology and Veterinary Epidemiology Laboratory at RUA, significantly improving Cambodia’s diagnostic and research capabilities. He has authored several scientific publications and nearly 10 veterinary books in Khmer, covering essential topics such as epidemiology, virology, bacteriology, and public health. His research has influenced national policies on animal health, human health, and environmental health, working closely with government agencies and international partners.
